DEI in Transportation Could Be Deadly

In reference to the language issue, it reminded me how the rapid demographic changes in the Hamilton taxi business, beginning in the 1990s impacted the formerly smooth two-way radio dispatch system. By the time the zeroes arrived, radio dispatch communication became nearly impossible. This paved the way for the adoption of distractive and dangerous computerized dispatch systems.

Diversity was definitely not a strength.

It's a good thing, in a way, that the volume of business per cab had declined so significantly over the years to the point where the cabs were moving only about 10% of the time. If it had been busy, like it used to be, with all the cabs in motion, there would have been multiple crashes caused by drivers fiddling with their computer screens instead of having their eyes on the road.
